Excuses, Excuses!

I am working on an article about excuses and I need your help! What are the top excuses or reasons you consider skipping a run or severely alter your training plans for the day? My big one was always bad weather, but I know there are lots of other's out there! So let me hear them.

Oh yeah. I will be writing the running column for Ohio Sports and Fitness in 2010! I am succeeding E-speed who did an amazing job. Hopefully, my columns will be remotely as good as hers!

Ok, now give me those excuses!

My typical excuse: I can't drag myself out of bed b/c I'm too tired. My latest lame excuse: I'd rather do the elliptical and read the Twilight series than go for a run. Lame, right?? I'm almost done...1/2 through the last book. It's actually perfect timing b/c it's kept me from running more than I should!

That tiny twinge I felt in my knee that I exacerbate in mind to be a crippling injury.

And ...

Too hungry to run. Will run after dinner. On second thought, maybe I'll just run tomorrow.

I don't like to run early in the morning. I don't like to run too late at night. I tend to work from mid-morning to the evening, so that leaves about two one-hour windows during the day. It can't be too hot or too cold. I have to have eaten something recently, but not too recently. I like to run somewhere interesting, like busy roads, but the roads can't be too crowded. I like quiet trails, but sometimes they're too boring.

Congrats on the column! It's like I know a celebrity now :)

As for excuses, my biggest one is fatigue. I say I am too tired, but I find if I just make myself do it, I'm actually energized.

At least that's what I'm telling myself right now, as I try to motivate myself to lift during naptime...

My tried and true excuses: it's too dark in the morning to run outside before work, it's too dark in the evening after work to run outside, I'm too hungry to run, I just ate so I can't run, and I'm so tired that the extra hour of sleep would do me more good than the run.

where to start, where to start.

I'd say my number one "excuses" or reasons that jump in and interfere are the weather, the kid just being grumpy and being tired/blah feeling.

In the summer....the heat. My hubby is away about 65% of the time so I have to run after the kid wakes up so I always use the heat as an excuse!

"I can't run, I need to work on my thesis - that is after all how I will eventually earn a living. Running doesn't pay me, a job does!" The actual result: me on the couch watching Love Actually and eating popcorn. :-P
